ZOOZ Fitness Gears Up for Second Spartan Challenge
September 16, 2025
On a warm Sunday evening in September, ZOOZ athletes and trainers gathered at the gym for their first training session leading up to ZOOZ’s second Spartan Race, taking place September 28 in Temecula.
For some athletes, this challenge is familiar—they competed in ZOOZ’s first Spartan at the LA Stadion Spartan Event Weekend in April. For others, it will be their very first time stepping onto the course.
“I’m so excited,” said Daniel, one of the new participants.
The training session kicked off with a run in the Woodland Hills heat, led by Jake Weiner, founder of ZOOZ Fitness, before moving into three dynamic stations. Athletes pulled heavy ropes, carried 50-pound med balls, hoisted kettlebells, bear-crawled, climbed over boxes, and even practiced their “spear throw” using a PVC pipe.
The workout didn’t stop there—after the stations, athletes and trainers took on another run, followed by step-ups, a turf sprint, and a much-needed cool-down and stretch.
“Watching our athletes challenge themselves through the first Spartan race was awe-inspiring,” Jake said. “I can’t wait to run alongside them again and watch them chase their dreams in round two.”
ZOOZ will host another training session before the big event, as excitement builds for Temecula on September 28.
